Portavadie to Tighnabruaich or Tighnabruaich to Portavadie
Drive to Portavadie Marina and leave your car there, or take the bus from Dunoon to Portavadie (one hour). Portavadie to Tighnabruaich is a 6 mile stretch. You could be at Tighnabruaich for lunchtime, then head back to Portadvadie afterwards or catch the bus back to Dunoon.
Portavadie to Glendaruel via Tighnabruaich or Glendaruel to Portavadie via Tighnabruaich
For those who want to push themselves, it is possible to walk this 17 mile section in one day, especially as the terrain is mostly relatively level. The scenery certainly changes along this way.
Tighnabruaich to Glendaruel or Glendaruel to Tighnabruaich
Drive to Tighnabruaich or take the bus from Dunoon. 11 miles in duration, with mostly tracks and quiet roads and some woodland path. Leave the car at one location, walk the section, then get a bus back to the car.
Glendaruel to Strachur or Strachur to Glendaruel
An early start required to complete this 16 miles section in one day. Mainly farm and forest tracks, this is a relatively flat section. Strachur has more choices for eating out, so keep this in mind.
Strachur to Lochgoilhead or Lochgoilhead to Strachur
A 9 mile route which takes you into the hills. Includes farm and forest tracks and rough hillside ground. Spectacular views and good parking available in Lochgoilhead town centre.
Lochgoilhead to Arrochar or Arrochar to Lochgoilhead
This 10 mile section of the Way takes you to the highest point and it is well worth the climb, especially on a sunny or clear day. Weather checks beforehand are advisable because visibility can be poor in bad weather at the highest point.
Arrochar to Inveruglas or Inveruglas to Arrochar
A pleasant 5 mile stroll along this section, which includes hills and forest. Arrochar has many recognised hills and mountains, including the popular Cobbler. The Loch Lomond & Cowal Way path passes at the foot of the Cobbler.
